Where did nutella originate?
The origins of Nutella can be traced back to Italy during World War II. Due to the severe shortage of cocoa, Pietro Ferrero, a pastry maker from Alba in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont, Italy, decided to add ground hazelnuts to the little chocolate he had in order to make a spread that could be used on bread. He called it Giandujot after Gianduja, the local carnival character.
