Hummus is a Levantine Arab dish, consisting of cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. The traditional origins are not clear with several Middle Eastern countries each claiming to be its creator, including Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Turkey.
