What is inside a Mexican jumping bean?

A Mexican jumping bean contains the larvae of a small moth species called the Carpocapsa saltitans. When disturbed, the larvae inside the bean will move around, causing the bean to jump or move around. This helps the larvae attract predators of wasps, ants, and spiders, which will eat the cocoon and free the adult moth.
