What is the best way to eat pineapple?

Slicing

1. Cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple. Remove the skin by cutting lengthwise strips following the pineapple’s natural 'eyes' (indents in the skin).

2. Cut off the core—the tough, fibrous center.

3. Cut the remaining pineapple first into lengthwise slices, then crosswise into bite-sized pieces.

Cubing (Doubling the above technique basically!)

1. Cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple. Cut the pineapple in half or quarters lengthwise.

2. Following the natural eye pattern again, remove the skin in lengthwise strips.

3. Cut the core off each piece.

4. Cut lengthwise into strips, then cut crosswise into cubes.

Halving

If it’s a small pineapple it can often be cut into just two halves for a sweet grab-and-go snack:

1. Cut the pineapple in half lengthwise, from the top to the bottom.

2. Remove the skin by cutting down one side in a C-shape to scoop the flesh away. Repeat with the other side.

3. With the pineapple halved and skinned, you can simply eat it as is, removing any core as you eat it.

Alternatively, you can turn the halves on their cut sides and carve triangles or squares out of the exposed flesh, and then remove the rest of the core.

Desserts - Pineapple Boat!

1. Repeat steps one to three in the “coring and slicing” technique above.

2. Take the two slices of pineapple and cut each in half lengthwise.

3. You’ll have four long, wedge-shaped pieces of pineapple with an indent from where the core was (the “boat”). Use a small spoon to scoop out any bits of core that might remain to make a bowl shape. Fill with your favorite fruits or yogurt.

Extra tip

A good quality knife will ensure both ease and safety in your pineapple cutting journey. A smaller knife may provide more precision while cutting. A serrated knife can work through the harder skin easier.
