What food is named after a body part?
There are a few foods named after body parts, but the most common one is "sweetbreads." This is a misnomer, as sweetbreads are actually the thymus gland and pancreas of young animals (typically calves or lambs).
Here are a few others:
* "Tongue" (as in beef tongue, pork tongue, etc.) is, of course, the actual tongue of the animal.
* "Tripe" is the lining of the stomach of certain animals (usually cows).
* "Brains" (as in brains and onions) are, predictably, the brains of animals.
While these are all named after body parts, they are often not considered "traditional" body parts in the way that "liver" or "kidneys" are.
