How long can mead be stored?
Mead has been known to be stored for long periods of time. In 2018, a 2,400-year-old unopened bottle of mead was discovered in an Etruscan tomb in Italy. The mead was still drinkable, although it had a very strong flavor. Generally speaking, mead can be stored for:
- Up to 1 year: In a cool, dark place, such as a basement or wine cellar.
- Up to 3 years: In a refrigerator.
- Up to 10 years: In a freezer.
Mead that is stored for longer periods of time may start to lose its flavor and aroma, but it will still be safe to drink.
