## How to cook a 16 lb turkey in an oven bag:

Ingredients:**

- 1 16-pound turkey (fresh or frozen)

- 1 cup kosher salt

- 1/2 cup brown sugar

- 2 tablespoons dried thyme

- 2 tablespoons dried sage

- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary

- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

- 1 cup chicken broth

- 1 large oven-safe bag (such as Reynolds Oven Bag)

Instructions:**

1. If the turkey is frozen, thaw it in the refrigerator for 2-3 days before cooking.

2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

3. In a large bowl, combine the salt, brown sugar, thyme, sage, rosemary, and black pepper.

4. Rub the spice mixture all over the turkey, both inside and out.

5. Place the turkey in an oven-safe bag and add the chicken broth.

6. Seal the bag according to the package instructions.

7. Place the bag in a roasting pan and bake in the preheated oven for 4-4 1/2 hours or until the turkey is cooked through (165 degrees F internal temperature).

8. Carefully open the bag and remove the turkey. Brush the turkey with the melted butter and serve immediately.

Tips:

- To ensure that the turkey is cooked evenly, place the breast side down in the oven bag.

- If you don't have an oven-safe bag, you can also cook the turkey in a roasting pan without it. However, you will need to add more liquid (such as chicken broth or water) to the pan to prevent the turkey from drying out.

- Let the turkey rest for 10-15 minutes before carving to allow the juices to redistribute.

- Serve the turkey with your favorite sides such as mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce.
