Some species also live in deeper waters, such as the giant hermit crab (Petrochirus diogenes), which can be found at depths of up to 1,000 meters (3,280 feet). Hermit crabs are found in a variety of habitats, including sandy beaches, rocky shores, coral reefs, and mangrove swamps.
