What type of skeleton do starfish have?
Echinoderms, including starfish (sea stars), have an endoskeleton made up of calcareous ossicles (small, bony plates). These ossicles are assembled into a rigid framework that provides support and protection for the soft tissues of the starfish. The ossicles are also covered in spines, which help to protect the starfish from predators.
