What are the parts of lobster not to eat?
Here are the parts of a lobster that are generally not eaten:
* The Intestines (Tomalley): This is the dark green substance found in the lobster's head. It is technically edible, but it can have a strong, sometimes unpleasant flavor and can be high in cholesterol.
* The Stomach (Sand Bag): Located in the head, the stomach is a small, whitish sac containing sand and grit. This is inedible.
* The Gill: The gills are the feathery organs that the lobster uses to breathe. These are not edible.
* The Mouthparts: These are too small and tough to eat.
* The Claws (sometimes): While the claws are delicious, the tips can be quite tough and are often discarded.
Important Note: Some people enjoy eating the tomalley, especially if it is cooked properly. However, it is generally considered an acquired taste.
