What happens when you eat a shell of shrimp?

It's generally not recommended to eat the shell of a shrimp. Here's why:

* Digestion: Shrimp shells are primarily made of chitin, a tough, fibrous substance that our bodies have difficulty digesting. Eating a shell could lead to:

* Indigestion and discomfort: It can feel like a large, indigestible object in your stomach.

* Potential for intestinal blockage: In rare cases, large pieces of shell could cause a blockage.

* Taste and Texture: Shrimp shells don't have much flavor and have a very unpleasant texture.

What to do with shrimp shells:

* Discard them: The safest and most common practice is to simply throw the shells away.

* Use them for stock: You can simmer shrimp shells in water to make a flavorful stock for soups or sauces.

* Compost them: If you have a compost bin, shrimp shells can be added to it.

Important Note: If you are allergic to shellfish, do not eat shrimp shells, even if you are processing them for stock or compost.
