Is a dead lobster safe to eat?
It is not recommended to consume dead lobsters, or any dead seafood in general, as it can pose serious health risks. When seafood dies, it begins to decompose rapidly, and bacteria and other microorganisms start to grow and multiply. These microorganisms can produce harmful toxins that can cause foodborne illnesses, such as food poisoning.
Additionally, dead lobsters may have already started to decay and may have an unpleasant odor or taste, making them unappetizing. For these reasons, it is always safest to consume only live or recently caught seafood to ensure its freshness and safety.
