What equipment is needed to raise poultry?
1. Poultry housing:
- Bedding to line the floor
- Feeders and waterers
- A heat source such as a brooder lamp or heat plate:
2. Feed:
- Starter feed for chicks
- Layer feed after they mature,
- Treats such as scratch grains
3. Water: A clean and abundant supply of water with water bottles or other feeders
4. Supplementary Vitamins: such as electrolytes in their water to keep them healthier
5. Roosting Space: Perches for the poultry to roost on at night
6. Equipment such as:
- Nest boxes,
- Egg boxes.
- Scales for weighing the mature birds and
- A brooder or incubator used by poultry keepers that raises young chicks until
sufficiently advanced.
