How to Pressure Cook Chicken & Potatoes (7 Steps)
Pressure cooking takes the work out of cooking. Once all the ingredients are added and the pressure has been set; all that is left is time. Although just about anything can be cooked in a pressure cooker; a main dish of chicken and potatoes is one of the fastest and easiest recipes to prepare. As long as you pay attention to pressure settings, cooking times and liquid amounts; a delicious and easy meal will be yours in a short time with minimal effort.
Things You'll Need
- Skillet (optional)
- 1/2 cup cooking oil
- 3 to 4 lbs. chicken breasts, bone-in
- 4 to 5 small to medium potatoes
- 2 1/2 cups chicken stock
- 1 tsp. poultry seasoning
- 1/2 tsp. sea salt (optional)
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- Timer
Instructions

Wash, but do not peel, four to five small to medium potatoes. Poke several holes in the potatoes with a fork to avoid split potatoes in the pressure cooker later. Set aside.
-
Add chicken stock and spices to pressure cooker.
-
Add chicken and potatoes.
-
Make sure lid is securely sealed.
-
Set pressure on high and cook for 10 to 12 minutes. Some pressure cookers have automatic-release settings. Check owner's manual to determine which one would correspond to 10 to 12 minutes of cooking on high pressure.
