How to Reheat Store Chicken
Most full-service grocery delicatessens sell cooked rotisserie chickens and fried chicken pieces, both of which provide a convenient and flavorful dinner that tastes as good as one prepared at home. Rotisserie and fried chicken store well in the refrigerator, allowing you to purchase your meal in advance and enjoy it later. Proper reheating doesn't just retain the flavor and texture of the cooked poultry; it also ensures the meat is safe to eat by heating the chicken sufficiently to prevent foodborne illness.
Things You'll Need
- Rotisserie or fried chicken purchased from the store
- Storage container
- Pan
Instructions
-
Place the cooked chicken in the refrigerator within two hours of purchase. Store it in the original packaging or repackage it in a sealed bag or container.
-
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Unwrap the chicken and place it in a roasting pan. Set whole chickens breast-side up. Arrange chicken pieces in a single layer on the pan.
-
Bake the chicken for 30 to 45 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the chicken reads 165 to 180 degrees F. Chicken pieces take less time to reheat than whole chickens.
-
Serve the chicken immediately after reheating. Refrigerate any leftovers promptly.
