Who where the first users of pasta?
While it's impossible to say definitively who the *very* first people to eat pasta were, the earliest known evidence of pasta comes from ancient China. Archaeologists have found evidence of noodle-like dishes dating back to 2500 BC in China. These noodles were made from millet and were likely boiled and served with a sauce.
However, the pasta we know and love today, made from durum wheat and typically shaped into various forms, is believed to have originated in ancient Italy. This type of pasta is thought to have been introduced to Italy by the Arabs in the 8th century AD.
It's important to remember that pastry doughs and flat breads were common in many cultures throughout history. So while the Chinese may have had noodles first, the specific pasta we know today likely developed in Italy.
Therefore, while we can't pinpoint the absolute first users, the earliest recorded evidence points to ancient Chinese for noodle-like dishes, and ancient Italians for the pasta we know today.
