What is refined pasta?

Refined pasta is produced from the endosperm, which is the starchy part of the grain. The process of refining involves removing the outer layers of the wheat – the bran and germ – and leaving only the endosperm. The endosperm is then ground into flour and used to make pasta.

Refined pasta differs from whole-wheat pasta, as it has a finer texture and is less nutritious. Whole-wheat pasta retains the bran and the germ, which contain higher levels of fiber, protein, and essential nutrients compared to refined pasta.
