How to Make Chicken Pasta Penne (12 Steps)

Things You'll Need

  • 1 package dry penne pasta
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 4 tbsp. butter
  • 1/3 cup onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 4 tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper
  • Vegetable or olive oil
  • Knife
  • Colander
  • Spoon

Chicken

  1. Cut your chicken breasts into bite size pieces.

  2. Add a capful of vegetable or olive oil to a medium-sized skillet. Turn the heat to medium.

  3. Add your chicken to the skillet and allow it to cook evenly. It should take between 5 to 7 minutes and will turn white when it's finished.

Sauce

  1. Dice the garlic and onions.

  2. Melt the butter in a sauce pan over medium heat.

  3. Add the garlic, onions and a pinch of salt to the pan and cook on medium heat until the onions have softened.

  4. Add flour and stir for 1 minute.

  5. Stir in the chicken broth and allow the sauce to simmer. Turn the heat on low. Add the sour cream and parmesan cheese and stir until melted.

Penne

  1. In a large pot, boil penne noodles according to instructions on box or until they are to your liking.

  2. Drain the noodles and return the pot to the stove.

  3. Stir the sauce into the pot, mixing well so it evenly covers the noodles.

  4. Spoon the pasta onto plates and top with chicken. Garnish with parmesan cheese.
