How long to bake a fresh double smoked ham in the oven?
You don't bake a fresh double-smoked ham in the oven! You heat it.
Here's why:
* Double-smoked ham is already cooked. It's cured and smoked, making it safe to eat without additional cooking.
* Baking a fresh double-smoked ham would dry it out. The goal is to reheat it gently and bring out its flavors.
Here's how to heat a fresh double-smoked ham:
1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
2. Place the ham in a roasting pan. If the ham is bone-in, place it fat-side up. If it's boneless, you can place it fat-side down.
3. Add some liquid to the bottom of the pan. This could be water, apple juice, or even a combination of both. This will help keep the ham moist during heating.
4. Cover the ham tightly with foil.
5. Bake for 15-20 minutes per pound. This will allow the ham to heat through evenly.
6. Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes of baking. This will allow the ham to brown and crisp up.
Important tip: Always use a meat thermometer to ensure the ham is heated to a safe internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).
Enjoy your delicious, reheated ham!
