Where did meatballs come from?

The history of meatballs can be traced back to the 4th century BC when they were first mentioned in the writings of the Greek philosopher Athenaeus. Meatballs were also popular in ancient Rome, where they were known as "polpette" or "albondigas." The popularity of meatballs spread throughout Europe and Asia, and they eventually made their way to the Americas. In the United States, meatballs became a popular dish among Italian-American immigrants, and they are now enjoyed by people of all cultures.
