What is hot dog casing?
A sausage casing (also called a sausage skin or sausage tube) is a thin tube that encases a sausage to hold the meat or stuffing together during cooking. Casings are generally made from edible animal material, such as beef, pork, or lamb intestines; however, some modern casings are cellulose or synthetic based.
