How long do you cook a 2 pound precooked ham?
Precooked hams are already fully cooked, so the goal of cooking a precooked ham is to heat it through and brown the outside.
Here are the steps on how to cook a 2 pound precooked ham:
1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
2. Remove the ham from the packaging and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
3. Score the ham by cutting a diamond pattern into the fat cap.
4. Brush the ham with a glaze of your choice. (Commonly made with brown sugar, honey, mustard, spices and herbs.)
5. Cover the ham with foil and bake for 10 minutes per pound, or until the ham is heated through.
6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the ham is browned.
Tips:
- To ensure even cooking, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the ham. The ham is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).
- If you want the ham to be more flavorful, you can marinate it in a mixture of water, salt, sugar, and spices for several hours or overnight before baking.
- Precooked hams can also be cooked in a slow cooker. To do this, place the ham in the slow cooker and add 1/2 cup of water. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the ham is heated through.
