How to Cook Prime Rib on a Traeger
Traeger Wood Pellet Grills operate with pellets made from hardwood sawdust and wood. These pellets add an extra smoky flavor to the meat as it cooks. These grills have an automatic auger that feeds the pellets into the fire and cooks the meat at a consistent temperature. This means you have little more to do than wait patiently while the prime rib roasts.
Things You'll Need
- Seasonings
- Meat thermometer
Instructions
-
Allow the meat to come to room temperature before you start roasting it.
-
Start the grill and leave the lid open for five minutes. This will get a fire going.
-
Set the temperature to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and season the prime rib as desired.
-
Put the meat on the grill with the fat side up and lower the heat to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Close the lid and allow the meat to cook approximately 20 minutes per pound.
-
Use a meat thermometer to test the internal temperature and determine when to remove the roast from the heat. Remove it at 130 degrees Fahrenheit for rare meat, 145 degrees for medium well and 160 degree for well done.
-
Let the meat rest for 10 to 15 minutes in order to ensure each slice is juicy.
