What fish is related to the turbot?

The turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) is a flatfish, and therefore related to other flatfish species. Here are some examples:

Closely related:

* Halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus): Considered the largest flatfish, it's similar in appearance to turbot.

* Brill (Scophthalmus rhombus): Another flatfish with a similar shape and flavor to turbot, though it's smaller.

* Dover sole (Solea solea): Though they have a different body shape, dover soles are also flatfish and share a family relationship with turbot.

More distantly related:

* Flounder (various species): While not as closely related as the others, flounders belong to the same order (Pleuronectiformes) as turbot and share the characteristic flattened body shape.

* Sole (various species): Like flounders, these are also flatfish and part of the same order.

It's important to note that within the flatfish family, there's a wide variety of species with different appearances, sizes, and habitats. However, they all share the common trait of having a flattened body and both eyes on one side of their head.
