What abiotic factor influence where a cod fish lives?
* Temperature: Cod are cold-water fish and prefer temperatures between 32°F and 41°F. They can tolerate temperatures up to 50°F, but they will start to experience stress if the water temperature gets too high.
* Salinity: Cod prefer salinities between 30 and 35 parts per thousand (ppt). They can tolerate salinities down to 25 ppt, but they will start to experience stress if the salinity gets too low.
* Oxygen: Cod need a high level of dissolved oxygen in the water in order to survive. They require a minimum of 5 mg/L of dissolved oxygen, but they prefer levels between 8 and 10 mg/L.
* pH: Cod prefer a pH between 7.5 and 8.5. They can tolerate pH levels as low as 7.0, but they will start to experience stress if the pH gets too acidic.
* Light: Cod prefer low light conditions. They are most active at dawn and dusk, and they will avoid areas that are too bright.
* Substrate: Cod prefer a sandy or gravelly bottom. They will avoid areas with a lot of mud or rocks.
