How do you treat popeye in molly fish?

1. Quarantine Infected fish

Remove any infected fish from the main school. Quarantine them in a separate tank so as to prevent the spread of the disease to other fish.

2. Reduce lighting.

Popeye can sometimes be caused by stress, so reduce lighting in the tank to help reduce stress.

3. Increase water temperature.

Raise the water temperature to 82-86 degrees Fahrenheit (28-30 degrees Celsius). This will help speed up the healing process.

4. Antibacterial Medication

Adding an antibacterial medication to the quarantine tank will help prevent bacterial infection in the wounded eye of the molly fish.

5. Epsom salt

Add 1 teaspoon of Epsom salt per 5 gallons of water to help reduce swelling. If the fish's eye is bulging out, you can also try applying a cotton swab soaked in Epsom salt solution directly to the eye.

6. Antibiotics

In some cases, popeye may be caused by a bacterial infection. If the fish's eye is red and swollen, you can try treating it with antibiotics.

7. Surgery

In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to remove the infected eye. This is a last resort option, and it should only be performed by a qualified veterinarian.

8. Clean Water conditions.

Maintain Clean water conditions, such as regularly changing water, filtering, and removing uneaten food.
