Why do you need to rinse chicken?
You actually don't need to rinse chicken!
Here's why:
* Spreading bacteria: Rinsing chicken under running water can actually splash bacteria around your sink and kitchen, contaminating other surfaces.
* No benefit: Rinsing doesn't remove harmful bacteria from the chicken. Cooking to the proper internal temperature is the only way to kill bacteria.
* Safety risk: If you're not careful, rinsing can actually increase the risk of food poisoning.
What to do instead:
* Wash your hands: Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling raw chicken.
* Clean surfaces: Sanitize all surfaces that have come into contact with raw chicken with hot, soapy water or a bleach solution.
* Cook thoroughly: Cook chicken to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to kill harmful bacteria.
Remember: Rinsing chicken can do more harm than good. Focus on safe handling practices and proper cooking to ensure you're eating safe and delicious chicken.
