Does soaking chicken in water before cooking remove salt?
Soaking chicken in water will not remove salt.
Here's why:
* Salt dissolves in water. When salt is added to chicken, it dissolves into the meat and becomes part of it.
* Soaking doesn't reverse the process. Soaking in water won't magically pull the dissolved salt back out.
* Water only washes away surface salt. If there is any excess salt on the surface of the chicken, soaking might remove some of it. However, this is a negligible amount compared to the salt that has already dissolved into the meat.
To reduce salt in your chicken, consider these options:
* Rinse the chicken thoroughly before cooking. This can remove any excess surface salt.
* Use less salt when seasoning.
* Choose lower-sodium chicken broth or stock.
* Season with herbs and spices instead of salt.
Remember, even if you soak your chicken in water, it's always a good idea to taste it before serving and adjust seasoning accordingly.
