How much chicken will serve 30?

A good rule of thumb is to plan for about 1/2 pound of boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs per person. This will give you plenty of food for everyone, even if some people want seconds. So, for 30 people, you will need about 15 pounds of chicken.

If you are using bone-in, skin-on chicken, you will need to buy more than 15 pounds, as the bones and skin will account for some of the weight. A good rule of thumb is to buy about 2 pounds of bone-in, skin-on chicken per person. So, for 30 people, you will need about 60 pounds of chicken.

Of course, these are just general guidelines. If you know that your guests are big eaters, you may want to plan for a little more chicken. And if you are serving other dishes along with the chicken, you may be able to get away with serving a little less.
