How to Get Breading to Stick to Fried Chicken
Breaded fried chicken can be a great meal to make for you and your family. Getting breading to stick to fried chicken can be a bit of a trick, but with a little bit of practice it will become routine. For your first time making breaded fried chicken, take the whole process slowly, and ensure that you follow each step. If you do not, you risk having your breading fall off before it is even made.
Things You'll Need
- 4 pieces chicken breast
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup hot pepper sauce
- 1 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. paprika
- Olive oil
- Paper towels
Instructions
-
Mix the buttermilk, hot pepper sauce and any other spices you want into a medium sized bowl. Put your chicken in the bowl after it is mixed and let it soak for a few minutes. If you want extra flavor in the chicken, place it in the refrigerator overnight after you have coated it in the mixture.
-
Mix your breadcrumbs, flour, salt, pepper, paprika and any other dry spices you would like to add to the chicken. Roll the wet chicken around in this mixture until it is thoroughly covered.
-
Pour olive oil into a frying pan. Add enough so that the chicken can be covered completely for deep-fried chicken, or about halfway if you want regular fried chicken. Turn your stove up to medium high heat. Do not put your chicken in right away, or the breading may fall off.
-
Wait five to 10 minutes for the oil to heat up. Place your chicken in the oil. Once you have placed your chicken in the pan, do not touch it. If you do not give the breading time to stick to the chicken, it will fall off. Cooking each piece of chicken should take about five to six minutes.
-
Flip the chicken over once you see that the breading has begun to stick. This will ensure that the breading sticks to all parts of the chicken. Wait another few minutes and take it out of the pan and place it on a plate with paper towels. Place more paper towels on top of the chicken to absorb some of the grease. Serve and enjoy.
