How do you remove chicken wing blood?
Here's how to remove blood from chicken wings:
1. Cold Water Rinse:
* Immediately after purchasing: Rinse the wings thoroughly under cold running water. This helps loosen any surface blood.
* Before cooking: Give the wings another cold water rinse to remove any lingering blood.
2. Soaking:
* For stubborn blood: Soak the wings in a bowl of cold water for 15-20 minutes. This helps further loosen the blood.
3. Salt and Paper Towels:
* After rinsing or soaking: Pat the wings dry with paper towels. Sprinkle a pinch of salt on any remaining blood spots. The salt helps draw out moisture and blood.
4. Vinegar Soak:
* For persistent blood: Combine a cup of cold water with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Soak the wings in this mixture for 15-20 minutes. The vinegar helps break down the blood proteins.
Important Notes:
* Don't use hot water: Hot water will actually cook the blood into the meat, making it harder to remove.
* Use fresh wings: If you're buying pre-packaged wings, choose ones that have the least amount of visible blood.
