Spenger's Fish Grotto

• Spenger's is a seafood restaurant located near the Berkeley Marina and has been around since the early 1970s. The restaurant provides views of both San Francisco and the Oakland-Alameda Estuary. Miss Pearl's Jam House is built on an 8,000 square foot old-styled mansion and features a bar and live music and entertainment. The Christmas dinner entree is a choice of curried lamb, grilled skirt steak, stone oven roasted fish or stuffed squash. Appetizers include a choice of a Jamaican Pepperpot, made up of oxtail, cassava and yam, or a Persimmon and Goat Cheese Salad.

Meritage at the Claremont

• The Meritage is a fine dining restaurant located at the Claremont Hotel and Spa Resort in Berkeley. The restaurant mixes vintage and contemporary architecture to create a stylish and upscale dining experience. For Christmas dinner, the restaurant serves an all day buffet from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The main entrees include roasted turkey with giblet gravy, Nantucket Cranberry sauce, roast prime rib with horseradish sauce and honey glazed ham with roasted vanilla pineapple. Side dishes include farmer's market vegetables, roasted sweet potatoes and apple sausage. There are several chilled starters to choose from including smoked salmon, jumbo prawns with crab claws, antipasto, calamari salad and wild rice salad. For dessert there are chocolate and fruit tartlets and a linzer torte. The price is $89 for adults and $25 for children, as of 2010.

HS Lordships

• HS Lordships is a steak and seafood restaurant located in Berkeley near the marina. It has a 400-person dining room and has a sweeping view of the San Francisco skyline. The Christmas dinner buffet is served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The entree menu includes beef stew, pork ribs with barbecue sauce, Cajun catfish, turkey and honey baked ham. The sides include fresh vegetables such as green beans, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots, and summer squash, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing and canned yams. The desserts offered include pumpkin and apple pies, German chocolate cake, carrot cake and cheesecake. The per person charge is $38, as of 2010.
