What to do for your science project 4th grade?

1. Make a Lava Lamp:

- Materials needed: Water, vegetable oil, a glass of water, food coloring, and an Alka-Seltzer tablet.

- Procedure: Fill the glass with water and add vegetable oil to the top. Add a few drops of food coloring to the water. Drop an Alka-Seltzer tablet into the glass and observe the reaction.

2. Build a Simple Battery:

- Materials needed: A lemon, a piece of copper wire, a piece of zinc wire, a multimeter, and some alligator clips.

- Procedure: Cut the copper and zinc wires into equal lengths. Attach one end of each wire to an alligator clip. Insert the copper wire into the lemon and the zinc wire into the other side. Connect the multimeter to the alligator clips and observe the reading.

3. Investigate Plant Growth:

- Materials needed: Different types of seeds, soil, pots, water, sunlight, and a ruler.

- Procedure: Plant different types of seeds in separate pots filled with soil. Water the plants regularly and place them in a sunny spot. Observe the growth of the plants over time and measure their height regularly.

4. Make a Volcano:

- Materials needed: A large plastic bottle, baking soda, vinegar, food coloring, a funnel, and a piece of cardboard.

- Procedure: Cut the plastic bottle in half. Place the bottom half of the bottle on the cardboard. Add baking soda to the bottle. Use a funnel to add vinegar to the bottle, along with a few drops of food coloring. Observe the eruption.

5. Build a Solar Oven:

- Materials needed: A cardboard box, aluminum foil, black paper, a clear plastic bag, and some food.

- Procedure: Line the inside of the cardboard box with aluminum foil. Place a piece of black paper on the bottom of the box. Put the food in the box. Cover the box with the clear plastic bag and seal it tightly. Place the box in sunlight and observe how the food cooks.

6. Investigate Different Materials:

- Materials needed: Different materials such as wood, metal, plastic, and glass. A magnet, a scale, and a ruler.

- Procedure: Observe the different properties of the materials. Use the magnet to test for magnetism. Use the scale to measure the weight of the materials. Use the ruler to measure the length and width of the materials.
