When was lasagna invented the date?
There is no one definitive date for the invention of lasagna. The earliest known documented lasagna dish dates back to the 13th century. A text from 1284 references a "lasaña" and its components are listed as dough sheets that are fried then layered with "cheese, egg, and spice". This implies that lasagnas have likely existed in some form prior to this time period. In addition, archaeological evidence shows that ancient Greeks & Romans ate pastries which were essentially large sheets of noodles which was often served with cheese (the name is believed to originate from Greek word Laganon: large flat sheet of noodles). Additionally, a dish consisting of sheets of homemade pasta covered with ricotta cheese dates back to ancient Rome when they would use their sheets of bread instead & it is still sold around Italy on street corners as pizza bianca (although some claim this dish predates Roman civilization when pasta was not introduced by Romans until approximately 303 B.C.)
