What is ramipril?
- Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor used in treating hypertension and congestive heart failure, and improving survival after a myocardial infarction.
- It is also licensed in the European Union for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy.
Grapefruit juice affects the body’s metabolism of some drugs, which may lead to drug interactions.
- Taking ramipril with grapefruit juice can increase blood levels and/or effects of ramipril.
- This can increase the risks of side effects.
- To avoid potential drug interactions, people taking ramipril should not consume grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice.
- Other medications and foods may similarly interact with ramipril.
- Be sure to tell your doctor about all medications and supplements you're taking to avoid potential drug interactions.
