Was tea supposed to be used for drinking or did have a special purpose?
Tea was originally used for medicinal purposes in ancient China, and was believed to have many health benefits such as improving digestion, regulating body temperature, and boosting energy levels. It is said to have been first discovered by the Chinese emperor Shen Nung in 2737 BC when a leaf from a tea tree blew into his boiling water and he was intrigued by the resulting flavour and aroma. Over time, tea became popular throughout China both for its medicinal properties and as a refreshing beverage, and eventually spread to other parts of Asia and the rest of the world. Today, tea is consumed globally and is enjoyed for both its taste and its potential health benefits.
