Is herbal tea against the word of wisdom?

The Word of Wisdom, found in Doctrine and Covenants 89, is a set of health guidelines given to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Joseph Smith in 1833. It includes recommendations on what foods and drinks to consume and what to avoid.

While the Word of Wisdom does not specifically mention herbal tea, it does advise against drinking "hot drinks." Some interpretations of this include herbal teas, while others believe it refers to caffeinated beverages such as coffee or tea. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to drink herbal tea is a personal one, and members of the church are encouraged to seek personal revelation and counsel from their leaders to determine what is right for them.
