How to Make Lipton Sweet Tea
Sweet tea is the classic beverage to pair with Southern favorites such as barbecue and chicken-fried anything. You can also enjoy sweet tea as a casual afternoon pick-me-up. The process of making Lipton sweet tea is more than just adding a dangerous amount of sugar to already brewed tea; it begins on the stove top. By making your own Lipton sweet tea, you can have your sweet tea anytime you like.
Things You'll Need
- Medium-sized pot with lid
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 family-sized or 9 regular-sized teabags
- Wooden spoon
- Gallon container
Instructions
-
Pour 2 cups of water into the pot and place the pot over a stove burner. Turn on the burner to medium high.
-
Wait for the water to start simmering, and then stir in the sugar. Wait for the water to boil and for the sugar to dissolve.
-
Remove the pot from the burner and add the teabags to the pot, submerging them into the water with a wooden spoon.
-
Secure the lid on the pot and allow the tea to steep anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on desired strength.
-
Remove the teabags with the spoon and pour the contents of the pot into a container. Top the container with cold water and stir. Serve on ice or refrigerate.
