What acid is found in red tea?
Theaflavins is the primary polyphenolic acid compound found in red tea, also known as black tea. Theaflavins are not found in fresh tea leaves, but instead form when the leaves are crushed and exposed to air, resulting in the oxidation of catechins. The longer the tea leaves are oxidized, the higher the concentration of theaflavins in the tea.
