Is there a coffee really made from feces?
Kopi Luwak is a coffee made from coffee beans that have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus).
The civet is a small, cat-like mammal native to Southeast Asia. Kopi Luwak is produced by the civet eating coffee berries, then digesting and defecating the beans.
The beans are collected, washed, and roasted before being brewed into coffee. Kopi Luwak is considered to be a very expensive coffee, and is often sold for hundreds of dollars per pound.
