How do you make cookies from scratch?
Here's a basic recipe to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Cream the butter and sugars together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
7. Scoop the dough into rounded tablespoons and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
