Why were cookies made?
The history of cookies dates back to the 7th century A.D. in Persia, where they were first baked as a dessert. They were originally called "qulfi," which means "sweetened bread" in Persian. Cookies were introduced to Europe by Arab traders in the 10th century and quickly became popular throughout the continent.
In the 16th century, cookies were brought to the Americas by European settlers and became a staple of American cuisine. By the 19th century, cookies were being mass-produced in factories and were available in a wide variety of flavors and shapes.
Today, cookies are enjoyed by people all over the world and are often associated with comfort and nostalgia. They are a popular snack food and are often served as a dessert or treat.
