Why is a lollipop called lollipop?

The origin of the word "lollipop" is quite interesting. It is believed to have come from the Italian phrase "lo lecca lecca", which literally translates to "he licks it, licks it". This phrase probably originated from street vendors in Italy who used to sell lollipops by chanting these words to attract customers. Over time, the phrase was shortened to "lollipop", and the word eventually became the common name for the confectionery.
