Gummy worm candy is a favorite of children and adults. Using this method, you can make your own gummy worms at home easily and inexpensively. This recipe can be made using any flavor and color you wish. Or, try making multi-flavored gummy worm candy.

Things You'll Need

  • 8-by-8 inch glass baking pan
  • 8 tbsp. unflavored gelatin
  • 1 1/3 cup fruit juice
  • 12 tbsp. sugar
  • 8 tbsp. corn syrup
  • Medium saucepan
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Wax paper
  • Sharp knife

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass baking pan by wetting it down lightly with a few teaspoons of water. Place unflavored gelatin in 1/2 cup cold water and allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes, until the gelatin is softened.

  2. Place fruit juice, sugar and corn syrup in the medium sauce pan. Cook it all over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has completely dissolved.

  3. Pour the gelatin mixture into the pan with the sugar mixture. Continue to stir until the gelatin has completely dissolved. Add food coloring, if desired.

  4. Pour the gelatin/sugar mixture into the prepared baking pan. Allow the mixture to stand at room temperature for 4 to 6 hours, or until completely set. Alternatively, you can place the pan in the refrigerator for 1 hour to set.

  5. Cover a flat surface with a large sheet of wax paper. Turn the gelatin out of the pan onto the working surface. Cut it into strips with the sharp knife to resemble worms. This recipe typically makes 24 to 40 gummy worms, depending on how large you cut them.
