Is decadent carrot cake good if expiration date was 6 months ago?
It is not recommended to consume food after its expiration date. The expiration date is there for a reason, as the product may not be safe to consume after that point due to the growth of bacteria or other contaminants. Eating expired food can lead to foodborne illness, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. In some cases, expired food can also be dangerous for people with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly, young children, and pregnant women. Therefore, it is best to discard any decadent carrot cake that has passed its expiration date.
