How to Make a Honey Bun Cake (5 Steps)

A honey bun cake is just what it sounds like. It's a cake that should taste like a honey bun. It's a Southern treat that isn't hard to make. It should take about 15 minutes to put together the ingredients, and less than 45 minutes to cook the cake.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 box of yellow cake mix with the pudding in the mix
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup oil
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 9 by 13 cake pan
  • 1 cup of powder sugar
  • 2 tbsp. milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Combine cake mix, eggs, oil and sour cream in one bowl, and the brown sugar, cinnamon and chopped pecans in another.

  3. Pour half of the cake batter into the pan. Sprinkle half of sugar mixture over batter. Pour the remaining cake batter over the sugar mixture. Top it off with the remaining sugar mixture.

  4. Bake the cake for approximately 40 minutes.

  5. Mix together the powder sugar and milk in a bowl to form a glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the cake while it is still hot. Let the cake cool for a while before serving it.
