How to Freeze a Cake Before Decorating
Save yourself some time and bake a cake before you need it. If it's properly prepared, almost any cake can safely be frozen for up to 1 month. The cake will taste delicious and moist long after it's been cooked.
Things You'll Need
- Cake board
- Plastic wrap
- Aluminum foil
Instructions
-
Remove a plain, cooked cake from the pan and place it onto a cake board.
-
Wrap plastic wrap all the way around the cake and the cake board so that no air escapes.
-
Cover the plastic wrap with aluminum foil. Wrap the foil completely around the cake and board so air cannot penetrate the wrapping.
-
Place the covered cake into the freezer.
-
Remove the cake from the freezer 24 hours prior to decorating.
-
Remove the aluminum foil and plastic wrap so the excess moisture doesn't cause the cake to become soggy.
-
Place the cake in the refrigerator and allow it to thaw uncovered.
