Ideas for a Deer Hunting Cake
A customized cake can mean the difference between an average event and a truly enjoyable one. When the cake recipient loves to deer hunt, make him or her a deer hunting-themed cake. Craft a detailed hunting scene atop a sheet cake or a three-dimensional sculpted cake to bring a passion for hunting to life.
Decorated Sheet Cake
-
Purchase a basic sheet cake or bake your own; decorate the sheet cake with a deer hunting theme. Take a hunting photograph and have it printed onto rice paper; affix to the top of the sheet cake. Use a hunting cake kit to decorate the cake top in coordinating colors and images, such as small plastic trees and deer to create a woodland scene. Use different colors to create a natural scene, such as greens and browns for the ground and blue to create a river or stream running through the cake top.
Cupcake Cake
-
Bake cupcakes in a favorite flavor and arrange them in the basic shape of a deer or a deer's head. Shape the cupcakes to make a deer head mount. Use different colors and types of frosting to create a deer, frosting the grouping of cupcakes together as if they were a single cake. Color the background brown like the wall mount, and then decorate the deer's head over the top for a distinctive deer hunting cake.
Molded-Cake
-
Find a deer-themed cake mold if possible, but if not, use one of the commercially available similar molds. Create a cake with a lamb mold, and then add decorations to make the cake look like a deer rather than a lamb. Create antlers from craft wire, and then wrap them in brown fondant to customize your deer-hunting cake. Frost the cake in coordinating colors and add frosted grass or flowers around the base of the cake.
Sculpted Cake
-
Sculpted deer hunting cakes can take on different shapes depending on the recipient's interest. Create a cake shaped like a hunting cap, a bright-orange vest, a bullet or a shotgun shell, a deer stand, antlers, an animal shape like a deer head or an entire deer or even a hunting dog. Bake the cake with a heavier cake batter so that it will support the shape and weight of the design. Decorate the sculpted cake according to the design.
