How to Freeze Cupcakes (5 Steps)

Cupcakes, like whole cakes, store well in the freezer. Things You'll Need

  • Plastic wrap
  • Heavy duty aluminum foil

Instructions

  1. Freeze the cupcakes uncovered for one hour to harden the icing. Skip this step if freezing unfrosted cupcakes.

  2. Tightly wrap each cupcake with plastic wrap.

  3. Cover each plastic wrapped cupcake with heavy duty aluminum foil.

  4. Return the cupcakes to the freezer for up to three months.

  5. Unwrap the cupcakes and defrost overnight in the refrigerator in a covered container. Leave unfrosted cupcakes in the plastic wrap and aluminum foil wrappings to defrost in the refrigerator overnight.
