Is Chia seeds are what we call Isabgol?
Chia seeds and Isabgol (Psyllium) are two different plants with different properties and uses.
Chia seeds (Salvia hispanica) are small, black or white seeds that are native to Mexico and Central America. They are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, protein, fiber, and minerals. Chia seeds are often used as a food supplement or added to smoothies, cereals, or baked goods.
Isabgol, also known as Psyllium, is a plant that is native to India and Pakistan. The husks of the Isabgol seeds are used as a bulk-forming laxative and as a food additive. Isabgol is often used to treat constipation, diarrhea, and other digestive problems.
While both Chia seeds and Isabgol are seeds that can be used for their health benefits, they are not the same plant and have different properties and uses.
